How do you know you're a serious geologist? (because lets face it, there are plenty of pseudomorphs out there)
Here's my list:

1) Your rock collection weighs more than you do.

2) Your photos include people only for scale.

3) You can pronouce the words Molybdenite, Chalcedony and Porphyroblast right the first time.

4) You feel compelled to examine road gravel and kitchen counter tops at every opportunity.

5) You have had to respond 'yes' to the question: 'Jesus, do you have rocks in that?"

6) You use phrases such as 'Hectic Eutectic' on a regular basis.

7) You have used the phrase: "Have you tried licking it?" with no sexual conotation.

8) You dont think of cleavage in the same way as every one else.

9) Your idea of a balanced diet is a steak in both hands.

10) There are an equal number of rock and liquor store stops on field trips.

11) You're planning on taking your rock pick with you on holiday and realistically are expecting to bring back kgs of rocks.

12) You consider anything younger than 500 000 yrs old as being far too young to worry about.
